Once on you, ticks often move to a warm, moist place on your body. Regularly apply and reapply tick sprays registered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that contain DEET, picaridin, IR3535, oil of lemon eucalyptus (OLE), para-menthane-diol (PMD), or 2-undecanone. Wear long sleeves and pants, tuck in your shirt, and tuck pant legs or leggings into long socks. Avoid wandering off trails or into tall grasses, and keep your grass well-trimmed in your yard.
